XYMOGEN Leads Amazon Elements on Supplement Transparency

XYMOGEN is way ahead of the supplements transparency curve. Recently, Amazon Elements, the mega internet retailer’s private label brand, has included four dietary supplements, in an effort, it states, to bring more transparency and safety to these products. As the only exclusive practitioner-channel supplements formula company, XYMOGEN has been offering this transparency to its customers for years.

For those unfamiliar with the practitioner-channel, it is based on the idea that only a healthcare practitioner understands a patient’s unique nutritional needs and that dietary supplements formulas should be recommended and monitored by a professional licensed healthcare practitioner. This further protects the patient and encourages health and wellness goals.

For over a quarter century, the company has partnered with practitioners to deliver formulas with the highest standards of purity, authenticity and safety.

"It's great to hear that Amazon is doing something to protect its supplements customers through this new initiative," Brian Blackburn, CEO and founder of XYMOGEN said. "But we have known this is an important issue for a long time and have delivered high quality formulas to customers for more than 25 years."

Further, Blackburn said that XYMOGEN's ePV (electronic Pedigree Verification), which the company launched in 2012, goes a step further than Amazon Elements transparency. "We serialize our formulas to assure our customers of their authenticity and quality,” Blackburn said. “We also verify the expiration date and storage conditions. Because you can’t have things like probiotics sitting in a hot warehouse where their efficacy can be damaged." Blackburn added.

XYMOGEN has shut down rogue retailers of its formulas and bought back an estimated $100,000 of its own product sold through non-approved channels, such as internet retail websites. Taking this kind of action ensures two things: that patients are not exposed to expired or mishandled product and keeps the brand truly exclusive.

Amazon’s webpage for its Amazon Elements products does not mention if storage conditions for dietary supplements are regulated. "While I'm sure it doesn't matter what the temperature of or how long baby wipes are stored in a warehouse, it matters a great deal for nutritional supplements," Blackburn said.
